Going to the wars...!
This poem was written by a solder who wrote it for his lover before he went off to war. It is about why he is leaving and where he is going. He is going off to war for honor, even though he loves this girl, he knows he needs to go. He wrote this poem to her, so he must really care about her. I can relate this poem to the war in Iraq today. People are enlisting into the service and leaving there loved ones at home to fight and die for them, just like this poet was. That is why i like this poem.
Holy Sonnet 10
This poem is pretty sweet. The speaker is a Christian, and he is saying that death can not kill him, because when he dies, he will live forever in heaven. And because death's purpose is it kill, if he can not kill, then he will have no purpose, and he will be dead. I like this poem because it made me think about what message the speaker was trying to get across. I think it was pretty cool to read and i liked the poets writing style.
Sonnet 130
Sonnet 130 by Shakespeare give the burn to Petrarch and his sonnets. His poem states what his love really is, and he loves her for who she is. I like this one because Will does not put his wife on a pedistool on this poem. I think the last couple of lines completly turn the poem around and lets us know that he really cares for her. That is why i dig this poem.
"Let me die a young man's death"
This poem was pretty awseome in my opinion. Whoever the speaker is, he does not want to die in bed somewhere or in peace. He wasnts to die doing something crazy and spontanious. I can understand where he is coming from, but really would have to disagree. I really do not want to get run over by a sports car when im in my seventies. That would suck. His family just better hope he has life insurance casue funerals are very expensive. But the poem is very shoking becasue I did not think anyone really wanted to die like that.
"Do not stand at my grave and weep"
This poem made a lot of sence to me. This is becasue when I die, I do not think that I will just lay in my grave forever, therfore standing around it crying would be pointless. Also, the end is pretty cool becasue its a really bold statement to say that you will never die, but this author does. Also i liked the rhyme and structure of this poem, and it was fun to read. I really enjoyed this poem a lot.

"If" Summary
This poem stood out to me mostly because of the subject matter and personal connection. The poem tells about certain characteristics that someone needs in order to be a man. it connects with me beccause I feel that all of the traits listed made a lot of sence and if I can do and think most of those things than I could have an almost perfect outlook on life. It is the most relivant for me becasue I am at the stage in my life inbetween childhood and adulthood, and the poem's advise can help me become a man if I apply it to my life.
